Meet Brianna

You should probably know that I love being on the water and am proud to be the first female captain in my family.

I learned to sail from my parents, and I can’t wait to show my future child the freedom of being a water baby.

In the summer, I take my friends, family, and their children sailing to explore new towns on the Chesapeake Bay.

At the end of the season, we get together for an end of the season crab feast.

Volunteering

I volunteer as a grant coordinator for a nonprofit that supports education for girls, sustainable agriculture, and eco-friendly development projects in Ethiopia and Kenya.

I first became involved with the nonprofit by sponsoring two girls to go to school. Barkot is in Ethiopia and Virginia is in Kenya. I plan to teach my child about the importance of giving back to others and doing good in the world by visiting both girls one day.

Combining my love of aviation and animals, I also volunteer locally with Pilots & Paws to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and fly them to safe homes in the mid-Atlantic area.

Interests

  • Learning Through Aviation

That’s me on on the left!
I have my student pilot’s license and co-founded the Frederick Chapter of Women in Aviation. I look forward to taking my future child to events at the local airport to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through flying small planes.

  • Animals

I love animals, especially dogs. I would love to have another dog one day but want to wait and let my child select our next pet. In the meantime, I dog sit a yellow lab who likes hiking in the woods and napping on the couch.

Growing up, I rode horses. I live very close to horse farms that have trail rides and kids’ summer riding camps. I’d like my future child to grow up with these strong yet gentle creatures.

  • Sports & Exercise

In the Winter, I enjoy skiing with friends. My dad taught me to ski and I’m excited to teach my future child how to ski and snowboard.

I also enjoy hiking, swimming, yoga and tennis
